but I’ve realized something that annoys the fuck out of me almost as much as the blatant transphobes: the falsely neutral people who say things like “I’m not for or against *HIS* decision (wrong pronouns, amirite)” as if it is some sort of political stance she made and that being *neutral* is some sort of valid position to take on who someone is. Fuck neutrality. “Neutrality” is what is killing children in schools all across the country. How goddamn hard is it just to say “I support you”? When someone has fought all their life to keep who they really were inside of them, probably having plenty of days when they wanted to die, when they didn’t want to get out of bed, and now they are finally baring themselves to the world, you are such a piece of shit that you have the nerve to say “I don’t support you or not support you?” You can’t even say three easy words, when they have just done probably the hardest thing they have ever done in their life? Fuck that, and fuck you. This isn’t just about Laura Gabel; this false position is something that I’m sure these people would exhibit if someone they knew came out as trans, and it’s something that needs to be combated even if Gabel is a public figure, because this is illuminating a real problem that affects real people. Neutrality is a cop out when it comes to someone’s identity, and you need to be called out.
